Dear
Wilton Manors Resident,
For the last 4 1/2 years I have
had the honor of serving as your
Mayor, and for the last 8 years as
a commission member. I have served
Wilton Manors in many other ways ,
for over 20 years - from a
baseball coach, to a member of the
planning and zoning board. When my
wife and I decided to raise our
family here we also decided we
would help make Wilton Manors the
best it could be. I am proud to
say that, in working with my
fellow residents, we have done
just that.
As a city, we have done quite
well. And for me, I have grown as
a leader and as a person dedicated
to public service. Whether leading
the way on a new City Hall,
securing the final funding for
Richardson Park, or serving as an
advocate and spokesman for our
local AIDS Walk, I have treasured
the opportunity to serve our city.
And I am honored by the tremendous
faith the residents have placed in
me.
When a seat in the Florida House
opened, I felt I had the chance to
advance my community at the state
level. Though that was not to be,
my passion to serve my community
was undiminished. It is for this
reason that I have decided to run
for re-election as your Mayor, and
ask for your continued support.
As Mayor, I have navigated our
city through tough issues with
fiscal prudence, while never
losing focus on the quality of
life issues that make Wilton
Manors a place we all call home.
Wilton Manors, like much of the
nation, will face some very
serious issues over the next few
years. But I also believe that we
will overcome these challenges as
we work together to achieve what
is best for us all. I believe I am
the right person to, again, lead
our city through these challenging
times.
Wilton Manors is the Island City ,
but we do not stand alone.
Together, we have achieved great
things and it is together that we
will accomplish even more. I am
grateful for the privilege of
serving as your Mayor for the past
four and half years. Thank you for
taking the time to vote by
absentee ballot. I ask you again
for your support and your vote on
Tuesday, November 4th.
Sincerely,
Scott Newton
